Q: When is the 26th Annual Lyle’s Myles Race?
A: Saturday, July 13th, 2019.

Q: What time does the Race start?
A: Registration and all activities open at 8:30 am at Esther Short Park, at the corner of 6th and Columbia in downtown Vancouver. The Lyle’s Myles 5K Walk begins at 9:15 and the Run at 9:45am.

Q: What forms of payment can I collect for pledges?
A: Cash, Check, and Credit Card donations are all equally welcome. You’d can also donate with PayPal by clicking the “Donate Now” button on the main page. If you are mailing your pledges to us, we ask that you not mail the cash, but write a personal check for all cash collected.

Q: Are their any prizes for collecting pledges?
A: We are planning for a prize for anyone who brings in at least $100 in pledges.  And, something special for the top pledge getter.

Q: When do I need to turn in my registration form and pledge sheet with donations?
A: You can start turning them in immediately and up to the day of the race. You can walk your forms and pledges in or mail them to:

Q: Can my organization sponsor Lyle’s Myles?

A:  Most Certainly! There are three sponsorship levels and all come with recognition of varying degrees.  Of course, donations of any amount are always welcome! You can be a Sponsor for $500, a Friend for $300, or a Supporter for $150.

Q: How long is this years Race?
A: This years race is 5.0 K (3.1 miles). * Note, this is a non-certified distance.

Q: What is the Race Route?
A: The race starts at Esther Short Park and continues south to the Columbia River, east to Beaches Restaurant, then returns along the Columbia River and back to Esther Short Park.

Q: Do I have to run?
A: No. In fact, most people will be walking. All participants must obey traffic laws and signals. You do not even have to run/walk the entire distance.

Q: Can I ride my bicycle or rollerblade?
A: Yes! You can even pogo stick the entire route if you want. Or maybe you’d like to walk backwards the whole time. Have fun, and be original.

Q: Can I walk with my dog?
A: Yes, we love 4 legged walkers. We ask for a minimum $2 donation for each dog walking. In addition, all dogs must have current shots and remain on leash at all times, and you must clean up any messes your dog makes. Please consider how your dog reacts to crowds, children and other dogs when deciding whether or not to bring them to Lyle’s Myles.

Q: Can I bring a stroller?
A: Of course! See the next question.

Q: Is the route accessible to all?
A: Yes, the route is basically flat and completely accessible to strollers and wheelchairs.

Q: Do I have to walk the entire distance?
A: Nope. You might want to simply turn around part of the way to Beaches and go back to the Park. The idea is to have some fun and a little exercise as we raise some money for HIV/AIDS. So make it fun for you.

Q: Where does the money go?
A: 40% will go to Global Partners funding a project in Africa, which will help a community break the cycle of poverty and save lives. And 50% will go to Martha’s Pantry in Vancouver, providing the poorest and most needy individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS food, toiletries, clothing and more. The remaining 10% of funds raised will go to Cascade Aids Project in Portland.

Q: I am unable (or just don’t want to) participate on Race Day. Is there anyway I can still help out?
A: You bet! Register as a Sleep Walker and collect pledges and donations, just as if you were going to be there for the race. You’ll still be able to participate in our prize giveaway if you raise $100 or more.
